Coburg crusaders Surprise Chef, newly signed to Big Crown Records, join Agent J for an in depth interview, some tune selections and another airing of their College Of Knowledge mix for Creating Patterns on Reform Radio.
Stuckey (guitar) and Jethro (keys) talk us through the development of the band, and we’re joined by Carl (bass), Andrew (drums) and Hud, joining the band officially for the first time on percussion – plus engineer Robin (the ‘Russell’ you can hear being chanted at at the start is Stuckey’s dad, who’s been roped in to drive the tour bus).
We talk the band cat Fabulous Baby Huey, Big Crown Records, influences including Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, then the band choose some tracks between them.
