Later today the Chilean people decide on whether or not to accept a new constitution to replace the one created during Pinochet’s bloody leadership.
My mum was treated brutally in Santiago during this time, enduring mental and physical torture along with thousands of others, and thousands more were killed. Mum later found refuge in England, where I was born.
Pablo Navarrete, my guest for this episode, heads up Latin American journalistic platform Alborada.net and runs Alborada Films. Their most recent film Santiago Rising, directed by Nick McWilliam, documents the protests in the capital which led to this new draft constitution.
