Preview: AIM & QNC – The Habit Of A Lifetime (And How To Kick It)

HABIT

Listen to How It All Started…

From the ashes of Manchester’s Grand Central label arose one of its most prominent artists, Aim – heading up Atic Records, he released Flight 602, the label was prolific and… things went quiet for a little while for him after that. Eight years later and here we are – because you can’t give up the habit of a lifetime. Teaming up with soulmates QNC, Andy Turner has returned with a banger of an album with that trademark sound…

Kicking off with menacing synth, Grand Puba and Sean Price (rest in peace) and never looking back, QNC shower this album with smooth lyricism over Aim’s emotive production. There’s a beautifully bittersweet tribute to Gangstarr, an ode to an obsessed ex and plenty more to discover as I keep listening. It’s definitely coming across as a love letter to the genre if not the industry.

Q-Ball and Curt Cazal have always been players in Aim’s story, but let’s not forget Cazal was JVC Force back in ’87…

Guests include NIKO, Dimes, B-Luv and the aforementioned Puba and Price.

Preview the album in an auditory way over at Atic Records, where you can also pre-order the wax (due a little later than the October 9th digi and CD release date). Pre-oder on iTunes here.
