Huh? Two worlds continue to collide with the news that Kelis has signed to Ninja Tune. The likes of Danny Brown and Kanye West have looked towards more traditionally (for hip hop) leftfield producers in the last couple of years, but going the whole hog and signing to an independent label is a thing to behold. I look forward to the collabs this might open up (Illum Sphere, Scruff, I’m looking at you) especially with the close links to Brainfeeder the label has, and rejoice in the fact that lines remain blurred in music – that is, after all, why we’re called Groovement rather than Hip Hop And Beats.
The album Food is out in April, on Ninja. Read the full news item over hearya.
