Here’s the blurb:

15 years into a career that’s seen him approach UK soundsystem music from just about every angle possible – from his game-changing footwork-jungle hybrids to the alchemy of his Acid Dub Studies project – Om Unit’s status in 2026 is at an all-time high. Respected by the new gen and vets alike, it feels a little redundant to talk him up: at this point he’s simply an authority. But despite the unc status, he’s far from closed off: this EP’s title is actually a tribute to meeting new people with inspiring ideas and approaches to life, love and creativity.

Following last year’s collaborative release with James Bangura, Om Unit returns to Local Action for his first solo EP on the label.

On lead track ‘Remember’, he reframes classic jungle signifiers into a breakbeat house roller full of deep tones and colour, while the subsequent ‘Ripples’ and ‘Rustt’ mark the album’s heaviest run, albeit drawing from classic techno, Detroit machine music and broken beat as much as they do from dubstep tropes of future-past.

‘Healing Tool’ recalls the more haunting (or haunted?) side of grime with just the slightest splash of Eau de Boxed, while closing track ‘Survivor’ is an ode to Om Unit’s London years of 2000-2015, reminiscing on that era’s key clubbing touchstones: Plastic People, Jazz Cafe and Deviation at Gramophone. IYKYK – and we dare say you do.
