Mahalia Presents: Akemi Fox, Victoria Jane and James Vickery @ Deaf Institute, 9 April
‘Mahalia Presents’ visits Manchester for the first time with a strong local line up and James Vickery.
Mahalia’s showcase series is inspired by an event she used to run at the age of 16 back in her hometwon of Leicester, with the remit of platforming up and coming RnB artists.
With his hugely popular COLORS session amassing 36 million views, James Vickery caught the attention of admirers internationally. His debut album, ‘Songs That Made Me Feel’ showcases his unmistakable voice, with notable collaborations with Musiq Soulchild and EarthGang.
Named as one of Manchester’s most exciting new talents to emerge, Victoria Jane has supported the likes of 6lack and Tamera, and has already performed in venues such as KOKO London, The Jazz Café and Manchester’s Band on the Wall. She is also set to perform at Cross The Tracks festival later this year.
Since the release of single ‘Lemon Tea’ in 2020, Akemi Fox has gained over 5 million streams worldwide, performed two sold out headline shows in London and Manchester and has received extensive support from BBC Introducing. She has also been placed on various playlists on Spotify and Apple Music.
