Local shows are now something of a rarity with projects like the huge Invisible Orchestra taking on a life of their own, so you can be sure this will be the last till at least after festival season. Energetic, enigmatic and ostentatious as ever and ready to have your pants down on the dance floor one more time. ∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷WE ARE AVENGERS Local trip-hop/soul 5 piece full of head nodding sexy swaggery and superbly honed tunes. Having appeared at the first ever Sounddhism back in August 2010 and bringing one of the best sets to date to our Christmas event, we were keen to get them back for more of their distinctive downtempo ditties at the nearest opportunity. ∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷JIALLO JAZZ Fresh faced yet classically styled, this young band of jazz enthusiasts already boast impressive skills on their respective weapons of choice and a keen ear for great original compositions. Already appearing on bills with world-renowned players and having all recently embarked on music courses at some of the country’s most respected music schools, their star is young but packing plenty of heat. ∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷DEFKON1 Derby based, London born and long time France dwelling artist Defkon1 brings an exciting mix of hip-hop, soul and funk backed by a tight band from across the pond. A mixture of quality and bilingual lyrical styling and a keenness for crossover make this an exciting proposition so we look forward to this Sounddhism debut. ∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷∷LEAH SINEAD One of the most unique, enchanting and endearingly fragile voices in folk music and a talent that has taken the Nottingham circuit by storm, Leah brings loveliness by the bucket load and doesn’t hold back any soul in the live setting.
