We’re pleased to introduce to you “Breve explicación de las partes”, the debut release from one of the best kept secrets of Puente Alto (Chile). Patricio Castillo, best known as Poki Tatane, is the character behind this five track collection, that kicks off the 2012 Discos Pegaos catalogue.
Beginning his beat making career with a more hip hop oriented production style, the young Poki quickly evolved in search of building his own language as a producer, mainly focusing on exploring new forms of avant garde electronic music. His skills on sampling and music software, combined with an evocative treatment of synth lines (symptomatic of his folklore background), as well as the influence on his beat dynamics by nu-genres like ‘post dubstep’, turns this debut into one with a statement that translates as well globally as it does locally. These five tracks confront the eternal search for the definitive rhythm, with an almost-folk journey through the emotional landscapes of his songs. This is how Poki Tatane lays the first stone of a career that seems to hold so many exciting surprises for the future.

Cercano a la producción de beats con orientación hip-hop en sus inicios, el joven Poki evoluciono rápidamente hacia la búsqueda de un lenguaje propio, más próximo a las nuevas formas de la vanguardia electrónica. El manejo del sampling y el dominio del software, combinados con evocadoras líneas de sintetizadores (herencia de su formación folklórica), además de las influencias en su dinámica de neo-géneros como el post-dubstep, hacen que el debut de Poki Tatane posea un discurso tan propio como global, el cual enfrenta en 5 tracks las búsquedas rítmicas propias de la electrónica, con esa emotividad melódica tan propia de nuestra herencia latinoamericana, generando así la primera piedra de lo que debiese ser una trayectoria llena de gratas sorpresas.
