FAT CITY is dead … Long live FAT CITY *plus* DARREN LAWS mix

dsc02695
Manchester wax-lovers mourn today as FAT CITY record shop opens its doors for the final time… as a physical, daily-opening shop anyhow. Making the full move online has been in the works for a while now, and given the weight of online orders versus people walking-in, simply makes more sense.

Fat City’s website will soon be relaunched with a few tweaks here and there … the actual stock will remain at 20 Oldham Street, but ladieswear retailer No Angel will be taking over the upstairs space. Fat City’s staff will man the basement and Jon K will be hosting it to the public every Friday and Saturday between 10am and 6pm.

DARREN LAWS MIX: A Few Of My Favourite Things

To wish Fat City the very best of luck for this new beginning, Groovement is proud to present the departing set of one Darren Laws, for many the face of the shop over the past few years. Darren played his final Manchester set proper at the Fat City Sunday Social at Cord bar on April 5, and our technical monkeys recorded the set for your aural pleasure. Bear in mind that Darren has recently sold off his collection as he prepares to make the move North-East, so the only records he has left are the very cream of the crop…

The mix is presented in two parts (enough for a CD each) or as one big download further down the page if you’re a greedy gulper.
