NightjaR live: photography by Blackxlist and Wire review
A couple of months down the line and it seems mad that this huge event, full of moving parts, even happened – but flicking through Blackxlist’s flicks brings back the beautiful chaos of the night.
Promoters Broken Wing had belled me with the idea – we were both huge fans of Jimi Goodwin’s NightjaR album Mala Leche, his side project to his main band Doves rammed full of his favourite MCs. Why not get all the guests together to celebrate Jimi’s work?
For one night only, that’s what they did. With Jason Williamson and Pan Amsterdam sadly unavailable, we did the next best thing and ran solo sets from each artist, then their NightjaR collabs.
The love in the room for Jimi was palpable – objective achieved. We love you, man.
On hand to document the event beautifully, as he has been for years at hip hop events and more, was blackxlist – thank you for some amazing shots, all shared below in galleries.
