Video Premiere / Homeboy Sandman live at Jimi Goodwin’s NightjaR in Manchester
August Bank Holiday saw a landmark hip hop event hit Manchester, when Jimi Goodwin debuted a live incarnation of his NightjaR album at the legendary venue Band On The Wall.
Known of course as the lead singer of Doves, Jimi makes beats every day and compiled a wish list of his favourite MCs to feature on the full length, entitled Mala Leche. Promoters Broken Wing Club had the frankly batshit idea to bring to the album to the stage, resulting in the coming together of Vast Aire (Cannibal Ox), Pruven, Quelle Chris, Sonnyjim, Burgundy Blood… and the famously prolific Homeboy Sandman.

Luckily for you, filmaker Enrico Elson was on hand to film Sand’s set. Elson is in the midst of post-production of Homeboy Sandman: Rich, a feature documentary about the rapper. Peep the trailer on his website here.

Both Elson and Sand were kind enough to box up Sand’s performance from the night, including a performance of Pendulum Swing with Quelle Chris, produced by The Alchemist. It’s a close up look at one of the planet’s finest microphone controllers in action in real time. Enjoy.
