Pataka Boys are Sonnyjim, PAV4N & Kartik – THUGS FROM AMRITSAR album out now

A landmark project here from PAV4N, Sonnyjim and Kartik as Pataka Boys. The album Thugs From Amritsar is out on Indian hip hop label Azadi Records – below you can check the Guddi Check video, and I’ve added previous singles Bappi Lahiri and Megaloblast.

Beautifully, Sonnyjim and PAV4N (of Foreign Beggars, has been doing his own solo stuff for a minute) interweave Punjabi and Hindi with English (and even subs on the videos sometimes).

PAV4N and Sonnyjim trekked across India to bring the album to life, recording and shotting in the exec suite of the Taj Mahal, the Goan jungle, and Amritsar temples.

Production comes from young Punjabi prodigy Kartik, his first full body of work, a melange of soul samples and soundbites from cinema and folk records on his broken laptop in stolen moments travelling between hospital waiting rooms, taxis and his parents’ home.
