Pastor Champion passed away a few months ago, but this weekend sees the release of his one and only album on Luaka Bop.

Raised in the Jim Crow South and fleeing to California, Champion was a preacher, pastor and outsider gospel singer who travelled with his electric guitar to congregations and homes.
