J.Felix stirs up sunshine with new album Whole Again Hooligan

J Felix has announced his new album, Whole Again Hooligan. If you weren’t already familiar with his solo work, you may have heard him on Swindle’s No More Normal LP, one of my personal favourites from last year.

Andrew Ashong guests on the first single, Mind Up, which kicks off the album, also featuring Afua, El Train, Emeson and Sol Goodman. In the spirit of most of his output, the songs were created collaboratively.

I don’t know how keen he’d be on this, but J-Felix’s sounds is so distinctive in the boogie lineage I tend to call it J-funk.
