The world famous Soul Rebels night, run by DJ Lubi, has a big one coming up as part of First Word Records’ tenth anniversary. With label head honchos Andy H and DJ Gilla on DJ duty, headline slots go to Ariya Astrobeat Arkestra and Manchester’s favourite sons, Riot Jazz.

Leeds’ monthly live soul/jazz/funk/hiphop/global beats session Soul Rebels is back at The Wardrobe for the final event of summer 2014 and it’s another big one. A special 10th Birthday Party for First Word Records, the UK independent soul/jazz/hiphop/electronica label which was born in Leeds in 2004 before moving to London a few years ago. A night of live music from two of the label’s biggest artists plus the two owners/founders are guest DJs and a First Word Records stall will be selling music from the whole back catalogue.
