Never one to rest, American born music producer and vocalist Pursuit Grooves (Vanese Smith) presents an eclectic mix of electronic tracks for the EP entitled ‘Leaping Desire’. Those familiar with her past releases on UK based Tectonic Recordings (Fox Trot Mannerisms, Frantically Hopeful), recently on California based Deepblak Recordings (91 Fellows) and contributions to compilations on Brownswood, Tokyo Dawn, Listen Up/Art Union and Rush Hour will notice that this release on her own What Rules label highlights exactly what makes Pursuit Grooves so special, her unique ability to float between different tempos all in the name of soul, bass and house while highlighting her sultry voice which is featured on 4 of the 6 songs, albeit in speaking tones and flirtatious whispers. On this project she is joined on two tracks by Toronto based producer/turntablist SlowPitch who adds his wizardry and amazing attention to detail and also cover design duties. ‘Leaping Desire’ is truly poetry in motion. Let it soothe and move you all at once.
