The boy dun good good, and I know that for a lot of people who have known the one called Chunky for some time were all so very proud and made up for him on the release of his very first music.
So I am sure that the building will be packed to the rafters with friends, fans & supporters all coming out to celebrate as Chunky takes over Eastern Bloc Records this coming Monday 21st Sept from 4 til 8pm. Chunks will be inside holding down a DJ set then after there will be an afterparty at an undisclosed location where a number of guest DJ’s will be playing to help the celebration and best of, it’s all free!!
Details of the afterparty will only be revealed at the record store on the day, so dont miss!
Kromestar (co-headhoncho of Cosmic Bridge with Om Unit) & Jay 5ive (Rinse fm & Bass N Love records owner) head over to Deep Medi, Krome’s ol’ stompin ground for their next release, which is due out on the 24th of September.
Personally I am a huge fan of Kromestars recent departure into the more hip hop / beats field of production & have loved his releases with Om unit over the last year or so. This latest offering is equally as pleasing and continues along this vain. The release features 2 collab tracks (Words & Mind Pattern) as well as a track from each artist independently (krome’s “Clearly Distorted” & Jay’s “try harder”)
So go give them a listen and if you like, support that ish & buy it when it comes out!
I am of course referring to London Grime godfather Terror Danjah, who has a new lp “Dark Crawler” dropping on Hyperdub in about 10 days time. I have been checking the lp lately and it really feels like a step forward for the producer in terms of his musical direction. It still features the little gremlin sound bites throughout which make it instantly recognizable & at its heart is a pure Grime album, however it has a much grander feel to it then his last release Gremlinz, more polished & complete.
the fact that a label such as Hyperdub has picked up on him shows you that this ain’t no ordinary Grime cat! and upon listening to the album you will see that it is so much more developed and experimental then some of his earlier offerings.
Anyway, go check your album when it drops if you are a fan of grime or like your beats raw, dark & hard. It gets my thumbs up & some tracks will in no doubt be in heavy rotation over the coming months.
geddit?!!… hot floor……ground is lavaaaah never mind! Ok so I am not best known for my witty anecdotes, nor for my grammatically correct sentences or correct use of punctuation, but then again, do i look like i am arsed?! (or assed for the USofA readers)..
I wanted to put up a little post about Cali beatmaker Groundislaveava, whi has a new lp called “Feel Me” which should be in stores around nowish. I fist came across him when Kutmah put me onto his music & to be honest, it didn’t jump out at me, however after spending a bit more time getting aquainted and with some decent headphones on, i began to see how well produced & beautiful his music is, and that he is clearly a talent to watch out for in the near future. In fact he has got a US tour starting today so catch him Stateside now and below are the dates :; hopefully we can get him UK bound soon.
Also check this remix by Ryan Hemsworth & as ever go support this shit!!

Dam funk keeps it real, in fact so real he already made one song about it featuring 90’s hip hopper MC Eiht (remember menace to society soundtrack?), which was all about keeping your hood pass intact. Basically it means, knowmatter who you are or how much success you receive, you need to keep reppin your ends because as the line says “you never know, when your gonna go back, back back” (fade vocal)
With this latest offering “I don’t wanna be a star” he is talking about keeping his feet firmly on the ground. and singing about how he never came into the game for fame, ritches etc, but just to bring the funk & make music for people to enjoy.. This is what it should always be about people, too many folk get into this industry for the perks, style over substance etc, however it should always be about the music & expressing yourself, and Dam Funk is a master at this. He has kept it real to himself, his music & his beliefs, whist remaining truly honest & humble. I have the utmost respect for this guy & have had the fortune of spending a bit of time hanging out with him over the years & can honestly say he really is “the realest mo’fo in the game”, Mr Funk – We salute you!
the 7th release on Brighton beat boys label Donky Pitch is a dual affair from Eglo records associate Arp 101 (also knows as Alex Pirez to you Dnb fans) & Elliot Yorke (1 half of Royalty who has dropped beats on Project Mooncircle)
the ep features 4 heavy weight tracks, however the standout for me is the future boogie club smasher Slam which is the only track that doesn’t feature Elliot Yorke & is available on the digital only version.
Check this one for a taster tho and if you like it, hunt down the rest & consume!!
Kelpe hit me up with a copy of his new lp out on 24th September (Vinyl) & 1st Oct (digi’s) on the Svetlana Industries label, which is a follow up to his last now sold out EP i felt fuzzy (however you can get the digi’s from the link)
The new Ep features 3 brand new tracks from Kelpe, plus a lovely remix coming from the one like Neon Jung (aka Keaver & Brause)
Heres one of the tracks of the lp to enjoy
