A big favourite here at Band on the Wall, we’ve brought Fatoumata over to the UK several times. We hope you’re excited to see her in Manchester once more this coming February as she performs at the stunning New Century Hall!
Celebrated not just in Mali but across the world, Fatoumata has become an ambassador of modern Malian music, fusing traditional Wassoulou rhythms with contemporary sounds, creating a unique tapestry of music that resonates deeply with every listener.
As one of the first women in her home country Mali to perform as a solo electric guitarist, Fatoumata Diawara is a name synonymous with boundary breaking. Since her debut EP in 2011, she has continuously reinvented traditional African music, blending elements of afrobeat, jazz, pop, electro and hip-hop. It’s impossible to put her in any one box.
Touring her latest release London Ko and accompanied by her full live band, expect to her some brand new tracks as well as some classics from her extensive repertoire.
