DJAY ANA MAY, 9 years young, plays beats for the feet. Untempered by prejudices around musical genres or labels, she puts the records on and finds the groove, taking great joy in facilitating smiles and dances.

I’m Agent J, aka Jamie Groovement or Jamito, and I love playing records with my daughter. I co-founded hip hop social In The Loop which found its home at the sadly missed Roadhouse, and have warmed up for the likes of Say She She, Marlena Shaw, De La Soul, African Salsa Orchestra, Omar, Lowkey, KRS-One, Quantic, Norman Jay and many more. I’ve been backing DJ recently for Jungle Brothers and Phat Kat.

As well as hosting shows on Reform Radio and Radio AlHara, I also co-produced the BBC 6Music series The Huey Show presents The Hip Hop Mixtape, hosted by Huey Morgan.

Of Chilean heritage, there’ll always be Latin flavours in what we play, amongst hip hop, soul, disco and all that good stuff with rhythm.

I love warming up for international acts but nothing tops a back to back session with DJAY ANA MAY..

Having honed her craft at the sadly missed Hip Hop Chip Shop, Ana May has started to flex at other locations. Recent gigs include Freight Island with Huey Morgan and Jenna G, and Band On The Wall for Baby Rock Sampler with Honeyfeet. We’ve also played at New Century, Trading Route, Ezra and Gil’s Pride events, Tim Burgess’ Vinyl Adventures Piccadilly Records instore and in glorious sunshine at Vintage By The Sea in Morecambe.
