Domu & Illum Sphere at Northern Comfort
From the tremendous Northern Comfort blog…
This month we break with the tradition of hosting a local legend and venture further afield in our ongoing quest for aural pleasure. Coming up all the way from London our guest started producing drum and bass, moved famously into broken beat and has lately been producing glitchy hip hop tempo goodness. Decelerating yet further we’ve got him to DJ an exclusive downtempo set, featuring some of his favourite soul, funk and jazz.
We call him Domu but he may also be known you to you as Umod, Sonar Circle or collaboratively as Bakura, Rima or maybe Yotoko. An eclectic cat who’s appeared on labels such as Reinforced, Sonar Kollektiv, 2000Black and Compost he’s now become curator of his own online imprint Treble O and has a “One Off’s, Rarities and B-Sides†compilation in the pipeline for Tru Thoughts. Phew. When not doing any of the above or another side project you can find him busy behind the decks somewhere around the world with some other top-ranking act or possibly at the legendary CO-OP night, now into it’s 8th year. With such a workload we’re only too happy to provide him with a seat, a good pint, a packet of crisps and probably his least stressful DJ gig of the year.
He’ll also be joined for the night by Illum Sphere a.k.a. Ryan Hunn of forward-thinking Manc events hoya:hoya and Sketch City
In attendance to let him have a good sit down for a bit, as usual, will be residents Robd, Catcalledmorris and Sad Eagle.
