Groovement proudly presents its first show for Samurai FM – a blissed out collection of moods from Favourite Records' Sau Paulo contingent: Modo Solar!
Exploring jazz-funk and soul electrified by Brazilian rhythms, Modo Solar is comprised of composers, instrumentalists, producers and singers Gian Paolo La Barbera and Fabricio DiMonaco. Their first EP was released in 2008 on Favourite Records and contained massive dancefloor-fillers 'Sunshine Love' and 'Natural', including remixes from Patchworks.
"We write songs", explains DiMonaco. Keeping clear of samplers, and critical of the modus operandi of modern creative processes that privilege production instead of composition, the duo, influenced today by the jazz-funk, funk, and soul of North Americans (Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder), Africans (Hugh Masekela, Letta Mbulu), and Brazilians (Robson Jorge & Lincoln Olivetti, Tim Maia, Marcos Valle, Deodato, and Joăo Donato), have recorded their own material with the collaboration of percussionists Juninho and Marcos Banana, and flautist Gabriela Machado.
Kick back: enjoy the sunshine love. myspace.com/modosolar
