As much as he treasures his roles as a guitarist\, composer\, and producer\, Cory Wong fashions himself “a hype man\,” first and foremost. Living up to this classification\, he slings a Stratocaster and hurls “dad jokes” from the stage with the same panache\, poise\, and power. \n\n\n\n“For me\, it’s all about the listener’s experience\,” he explains. “I want them to have a visceral response like: ‘I feel better\,’ ‘That was really fun\,’ or ‘I got to escape for an hour.’ You’ll hear my voice through the guitar\, but I’m just a hype man. To uplift audiences with instrumental music that has no singing or lyrics is a fun challenge. I’m trying to solve the riddle. If I can get one person to feel good this way\, it’s a success. \n\n\n\nStraight out of Minneapolis\, Cory positioned himself as music’s answer to motivational speakers like Tony Robbins since emerging in 2011. Head-spinning rhythm guitar wizardry\, technical ebullience\, laugh-out-loud jokes\, and radiance on stage established him as both a sought-after collaborator and celebrated solo artist alike. He lent his talents to television programs such as The Voice at the dawn of his career. After an impromptu meeting at the weekly jam hosted by Prince’s rhythm section (where the Purple One often either performed or watched)\, he crossed paths with Vulfpeck who welcomed him as a frequent collaborator and member of the band. Solidifying a fruitful partnership\, the group named their most popular instrumental track “Cory Wong\,” in tribute. Lighting up the stage in the band everywhere from Red Rocks Amphitheatre to Madison Square Garden\, he remains a cornerstone of Vulfpeck’s storied gigs. \n\n\n\n“I try to feature the guitar\, but I don’t force myself into being the star of every song\,” he says. “The instrument plays an appropriate role. It’s not all flash. I’m bringing rhythm to the forefront where it’s not so shreddy. I refer to it as ‘Covert chops.’ I’m doing things that are sneakily hard\, but they lay in the cut. I allow the song to breathe and present myself as more of a composer rather than a guitar player.” \n\n\n\nIn the end\, Cory transmits joy in its purest form through the guitar. \n\n\n\n“The guiding light is to impart a feeling of joy\,” he leaves off. “I want people to experience instrumental music in a different way. This is hype. Renowned for the exploration of intricate and eclectic Arab music this one should not be missed! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCome along with your loved ones and embark on a musical journey with us guiding you through a multitude of genres such Arabic zouk (a genre originating from the Caribbean islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe) like Mallek Mohamed’s music\, Algerian coladera (a popular musical style from the Cape Verdean islands) or Lebanese AOR. \n\n\n\nHabibi Funk – \n\n\n\nHabibi Funk is dedicated to re-releasing a style of music that historically never existed as a musical genre. We use the term to describe a certain sound that we like from the countries of the Arab world. The songs we chose were created in places quite far from another and under very different circumstances. Some were written and recorded during war times\, others in exile. Despite the differences we think there is a musical connection between them. The duo will improvise live scores to turn-of-the-century masterpiece ‘Le Voyage dans la Lune’\, and mid-twenties sci-fi comedy\, ‘Paris Qui Dort’. \n\n\n\n‘Paris Qui Dort’\, which translates as ‘Paris which sleeps’ but carries the English language title ‘The Crazy Ray’\, tells the tale of an eccentric doctor who uses a magic ray to freeze members of the public in their tracks. \n\n\n\nGeorges Méliès’s ‘Le Voyage dans la Lune’ was released in 1902 and is thought to be one of the most influential pieces of early 20th century cinema. DESCRIPTION:Andre Canniere is an acclaimed trumpet player\, composer and educator currently based in London. Originally from rural Pennsylvania\, Canniere spent the first five years of his career in New York City where he worked with artists such as Maria Schneider\, Becca Stevens\, Donny McCaslin\, Kate McGarry\, Ingrid Jensen and Darcy James Argue. He has toured widely throughout the United States and Europe with performances at Southbank Centre\, Wigmore Hall\, Carnegie Hall\, the Barbican\, Birdland\, the London Jazz Festival\, The Hague Jazz Festival\, The Manchester Jazz Festival and the Rochester International Jazz Festival. \n\n\n\nIn February 2020\, Canniere followed up his acclaimed 2016 album The Darkening Blue with  Ghost Days\, reuniting with singer Brigitte Beraha and saxophonist Tori Freestone\, whilst introducing a new\, all-star rhythm team of Rick Simpson (piano) Tom Farmer (bass) and Andrew Bain (drums). Six of the album’s seven original compositions were inspired by a unique collaboration between Andre and the poets/writers Malika Booker and Rebecca Lynch. Each piece had a poem as its starting point\, defining the overall mood and the rhythm and phrasing of the melody\, and the emotional message of the lyrics is beautifully delivered by Beraha to create a unity of atmosphere throughout the album. \n\n\n\nAs a composer\, Canniere has been described as an “imaginative newcomer” whose music is “audaciously crafted” and “shows glimpses of an unusual fluency and freedom within the context of a dense and rhythmically intricate contemporary-jazz sound” (Guardian). Jazzwise Magazine states that “Canniere’s compositions contrast breezy folky jazz elements with a darker harmonic language that draws from Radiohead and a rawer rock-ish groove-based approach straight out of the New York alt jazz scene”.
