Hip hop on a Wild West tip from our old friend Kuartz, together with Cook, who’s been working on this for a good 6 months solid.
A soundtrack for an imaginary movie, the titular role of Slick is played by rapper Jus’Liam – it’s a moody and epic narrative, tracking the young Slick on his search for revenge. Kuartz and Cook have obviously poured their hearts into the production, with carefully placed instrumentation and dialogue building up imagery steadily over the course of the album’s not-long-enough half hour.
The project is fleshed out by expert storytelling from Taurei, read by Marwa Lahcen, plus bassist Pete Heptonstall. Find a comfy corner for a bit, stick the headphones on and lose yourself in a proper album – all too rare and beautiful a thing.
