Groovement Podcast – SNO: From The Dusty Streets Of Bophelong to Manchester

A beautiful guest selection from Manchester-based SNO – here’s her story:

When I grew up in the township of Bophelong in the Vaal, South Africa, my uncle was the finest collector of Jazz, Soul, Afrobeat and Disco.

He suffocated me with tune after tune for years. When he sold his collection, I felt loss that I still haven’t felt to date.

Once I managed to get a proper turntable at home this year, I started collecting the very records my uncle sold, and more, as I have never stopped to learn about music.

On the 17th July, I was thrown in the lion’s den by my brother and homie Levi Love, when I covered his 4 hour set at Soup Kitchen, Manchester. It was my very first time and I enjoyed expressing myself through my love of music, straddling genres and showing how unlimited and highly extensive my love for music is.
