Circle Star Records, Stones Throw’s step-sister, kicks off proper with Jesse Hackett aka JUNK

JUNK

Hackett’s been about for a good decade or so musically, but never as an outright solo musician. Under the name JUNK, his will be the first album release on the new Stones Throw imprint, Circle Star Records (their first 45 was a Dam Funk archive release back in 2009). You may already be familiar with his input as Gorillaz’ synth player, a member of Damon Albarn’s Africa Express outing, as part of Owiny Sigoma Band or as Bllud Relations with Bullion.

Have a listen to previews of the album over at the Stones Throw store.

Release: 17 July
‘First full length on Circle Star. JUNK is glam rock and “sleazy lizard lounge punk-funk,” all recorded on a Yamaha PSR-110 found in a recycling dump.’
